Nurturing nature and encouraging enjoyment and education at Doncaster's Lakeside
A few local people, in conjunction with appropriate members of DMBC, have formed a group in order to improve the area in and around the lake at Doncaster Lakeside. There are a number of both water and terrestrial birds who have settled in the area. The official name is 'Doncaster Lakeside Wildlife Action Group'.
Unfortunately there is insufficient nesting material or sites for the birds to breed. Many people, including families walk around the lake, some specifically to ‘feed the ducks’ and look at the resident birds.
This interest in the natural world is so important for younger our generations, as well as to help in the welfare of all of us. Our aim is to improve the habitat for the benefit of the birds but also for the people of Doncaster and beyond so that they can enjoy this fantastic resource. Access is easy for all and the area could be improved for the good of all of us.
